A Billion and Change is a collectively written poem over 130 pages long installed in 13 vitrines in a commercial gallery in Chelsea called Greene Natfali. The poem was not made available in the form of photocopies in the gallery space or online.
John Kelsey recalls, ‘Some of our most politically correct friends were outraged that we weren’t passing the poem out for free or putting it online’ … ‘One thing we knew,’ Antek Walczak recalls, ‘was we didn’t want to present the poem as a gallery reading, where everyone comes in and leaves. We didn’t want that effortless transmission.’”
